The DayLinks Volunteer Driver supports SPDL’s mission of assisting older persons and people with a disability residing in the City of Port Phillip and City of Melbourne.
Volunteer Drivers help enable independent living by providing a door-to-door transport service with SPDL vehicles on weekdays, from 8.30am to 4pm.
SPDL transport is only provided in the City of Port Phillip and City of Melbourne.

Albert Park, Balaclava, Elwood, Middle Park, Port Melbourne, Ripponlea, South Melbourne, St Kilda Road, St Kilda East, St Kilda, St Kilda West.
CITY OF MELBOURNE
Carlton, Carlton South, Carlton North, Docklands, East Melbourne, Flemington, Kensington, Melbourne CBD, St Kilda Road.

Follow an allocated driver’s schedule, safely collect and transport passengers to their destination.
Provide a friendly, courteous, caring, and culturally sensitive service to passengers.
Ensure that all passengers wear seat belts and follow safety procedures.
Report any well being, health or safety concern related to passengers.
Report any variation or issue affecting the driver’s schedule to the SPDL Office to obtain support.
Refuel the vehicle when half empty.
Check the allocated SPDL car before and after driving for safety and maintenance.
Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the SPDL vehicle you drive on the day.
Drive safely according to Victorian road rules and regulations.
Comply with SPDL Policies and Procedures.

Ability to provide a safe drive and a caring transport service.
Ability to follow a transport schedule and a driving route on a mobile phone map.
Ability to remain calm and communicate concerns in a clear way.
Ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds.
Be reliable and responsible in undertaking the role.
Have a pleasant manner, patience, problem solving ability, and dependability.

Regular half-day driving shifts weekly for a minimum of 6 months.
Successfully complete a National Police Check.
Successfully complete a Driving Assessment Check.
Hold current Working with Children Check (WWCC).

Induction on SPDL policies and procedures and volunteering role.
Additional training opportunities throughout the year.
Ongoing support and assistance from the Volunteer Coordinator, Transport Coordinator, Reception, and other SPDL staff.

Hold a current Victorian driver’s license.
Experience driving a minibus would be well-regarded, but not essential.
