THE COMMITTEE
South Port Day Links is a community volunteer based organisation that is overseen by an elected volunteer Committee of Management, which is responsible for the governance, leadership and strategic planning for SPDL in liaison with the SPDL team.
To support the governance of SPDL the Committee of Management has a sub-committee structure in place, the SPDL subcommittees include:

Carol Gordon
CHAIR
Carol has a long HR career in agriculture and finance and now consults privately on strategy, change management, performance, resourcing, and staff development.
Carol lives in the City of Port Phillip and chairs SPDL’s Committee of Management. She’s also Deputy Chair of the Alfred Hospital’s Community Advisory Group and contributed to the council’s 20/20 vision project, reflecting her strong interest in community health and wellbeing. A keen traveller, she recently visited Canada, the UK, USA, and India.

Alec Tarshis
DEPUTY CHAIR
Alec has 25 years’ experience in management, technology, customer experience, and healthcare. He is a former lawyer, he’s worked across Australia, Europe, and the USA in consulting, tech, and digital marketing. He’s led chronic disease program implementations and held a General Manager role at Telstra.
Alex joined the Committee of Management in 2017 and became Deputy Chair in 2020. He consults at the University of Melbourne and runs a Home Care Provider supporting older clients across Melbourne’s southeast.

Denis Mathieson
TREASURER
Denis joined Daylinks as a volunteer driver in 2019. With over 50 years’ experience as a director and business owner in the private sector and coupled with his passion for helping others.
Denis is well qualified to assist the Daylinks team manage the ongoing business challenges as they plan for continued growth and development in the volunteer support sector.

Toni Flynn
SECRETARY
Toni is currently a Human Resource Consultant and brings over 10 years executive HR experience in aged care at Signature Care, Homestyle Aged Care, Blue Cross and Sapphire Care. She previously had executive roles with Emprevo, Octopus Hospitality, Epic Energy and Westpac.
Toni holds a Postgraduate Degree in Human Resources Management from Deakin University. She has a robust skill set that includes Workforce Planning, Succession Planning, Employee Engagement, HR Policies, and Remuneration.
Toni commenced as a committee member in 2024 and hopes to bring some of her aged care experience to assist SPDL.

Steve Martin
COMMITTEE MEMBER
Steve spent 13 years as an Army officer before transitioning to the private sector. For the past 20 years, he’s worked in consulting, banking, and software across project delivery, business development, and risk management.
He has lived and worked in the USA, Malaysia, and Singapore, with broad business experience in Southeast Asia. He holds a BA and post-graduate qualifications in military studies, information management, and business.
Steve lives in South Melbourne. He started as a volunteer driver with SPDL in 2023 and joined the Committee of Management in early 2024. He is a member of the IT Subcommittee.

Steve Quinton
COMMITTEE MEMBER
Steve is an experienced leader who is active in mentoring and community programs in Australia and abroad with ~20 years in infrastructure, logistics, transport, energy, and property sectors. He advises boards and executives on large-scale programs with expertise in commercial, procurement, risk, governance, and regulatory compliance.
Steve holds an MBA and engineering background, offering a well-rounded perspective from roles as volunteer, client, contractor, consultant, and operator. He brings strong judgement, stakeholder management, and board-level insight across infrastructure, ESG, and asset strategy.

Gordon Robinson
COMMITTEE MEMBER
Gordon’s background is in marketing of high-volume fast-moving consumer goods. As Director of Marketing Australia of a multinational food company he then joined their International Division working in managing director roles in their South American and European businesses.
On returning to Australia he established a business consultancy practice advising companies on restoration to profitability. While working in that capacity he also gained extensive experience in non-executive Board roles in the not-for- profit sector.
He served as a driver for SPDL and is now helping in the PetMates program.

Kate Tonge
COMMITTEE MEMBER
Kate Tonge is the Executive General Manager of National Learning & Development at For Purpose Aged Care, driving quality, innovation, and compassionate care.
With over 20 years of leadership experience, including 25 years at Qantas as a Cabin Crew Service Manager, Kate brings a unique blend of strategic insight and people-centred focus. She is a passionate advocate for values-driven cultures, exceptional resident care, and volunteers with Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Clive Noble
COMMITTEE MEMBER
Clive has a long and extensive background in public service. A former Senior Executive in the Victorian Public Service Senior Executive, consultant, and not-for-profit CEO, Clive brings extensive public service experience. As an experienced board chair, he specializes in change management, strategic vision, and accountability.
He holds formal qualifications in science, technology, business, and governance. Clive joined the Committee in September 2025 and currently serves as Chair of the Policy, Governance and Risk Sub-committee.
