SPDL has a team of six paid staff. The team is responsible for the day-to-day operations of SPDL, ensuring that services are delivered to the community and meet the various operational, statutory and funding requirements.

CLEMENS UNGER
General Manager

Clemens joined SPDL in August 2023 and is an experienced senior manager in the NFP and corporate sector.

In his senior leadership roles in not-for-profit organisations over the last 20 years he has demonstrated the ability to work positively with volunteers, small and large teams and develop strong relationships with stakeholders.

Clemens has a genuine passion for the community sector as well as strong connection to other sectors such as the NDIS which complement the work of SPDL.

IVANO ABRAM
Volunteer & Intake Program Coordinator

Ivano has joined SPDL in April 2022 as Volunteer and Intake Program Coordinator.

Born and grew up in Italy, Ivano moved to Australia in 2008, living and working in Sydney until 2016 when he relocated to Melbourne, a city he fell in love with.

Although Ivano’s background has been in the arts and entertainment industry in the field of music/video production and event coordination, he always had a passion and a strong interest in social issues, cultures and how communities and more broadly societies are intertwined.

Ivano’s journey in the not-for-profit sector started in 2019 working in support programs for CALD groups. This experience has driven Ivano to focus on the development and coordination of programs to reduce the social isolation of the most disadvantaged people and to encourage human connections across cultures and groups in our community.

MARIA AÑES
Volunteer Coordinator

Maria joined SPDL in April 2022, sharing the role of Volunteer and Intake Coordinator with Ivano Abram.

Her academic background is in areas of psychology and public policy and management. She has spent more than two decades of her professional career in community service, with extensive experience in direct case management and community development work. 

Maria has been fortunate to acquire work experience in various non-for-profit organisations and a couple of local governments, which have given her amazing opportunities to work with diverse communities and gain better understanding of complex intersectionality issues.

Reading is her top hobby and finds great delight immersing in the beauty of written language and being transported to different worlds. Her favourite genres are historical fiction, fantasy, and science.

DESIREE GARNIER Financial Officer

GAIL FORWARD
Client Intake

Gail has been volunteering with SPDL for over 6 years, previously as a dog walker and currently as a receptionist. Now also assisting with Client Intake, she contacts new clients and their families, registering and welcoming them to the Daylinks community transport service.

With business analysis, project and change management experience in banking and health sectors, Gail enjoys working with SPDL staff and volunteers to help improve SPDL business processes. By updating volunteer and client documents, including forms and training, she assists SPDL keep up to date with aged care sector changes.

BILL HANLON
Transport Administration

Bill Hanlon is a CPA accredited accountant and began his professional life working in commercial organisations including TAB/Tabcorp.

Bill has also spent 17 years working in the not-for-profit sector in positions including: Finance Manager, SIDS and Kids Victoria; Project Accountant, the Alannah and Madeline Foundation; and Manager Business Services, Orana Family Services.

Bill was also a volunteer director on the board of First Option Credit Union for ten years, ultimately holding the position of chair. Bill has been on the board as Treasurer of the Australian Children’s Laureate Foundation since 2017. He has been a volunteer and part time employee with South Port Day Links since March 2015.
