Gayip Award Recipients

10 Years of volunteer service
In trying to come up with a special name for our award for volunteers who had been with us for 10 years, we consulted an elder of the Wurundjeri tribe for an appropriate word. The elder said gayip (pronounced geeup however the u is very short like a New Zealander would say it) meaning 'gathering' would be most appropriate. Gathering has many meanings in the Wurundjeri language. In this instance 'gathering' would mean 'community'
